Useful Resources

Not being a speaker of the Japanese language, several online references have been vital to my study of Japanese folklore. These resources may also be quite useful to others who wish to delve into this field.

The little illustrations adorning this site were scanned from the book Japanese Folk Tales by Kunio Yanagita, and were drawn by Hisako Aoki; except for the hanging tanuki, which is from The Japanese Fairy Book by Yei Ozaki, drawn by Kazuko Fujiyama. The tanuki painting at the top image of every page is by an unknown Japanese artist from the 19th century.
